Reflection from the VIP Lounge
After some reflecting from the VIP Lounge at UMI Motorsports Park I’m extremely happy with how I drove. Last year I was 3.8 from 12th place in my class. This year I was 1.3 and about 3.8 from first in class. (This is all from memory as I didn’t screenshot the results)
I’ve made incredible improvements this year. In art they say when all you see are mistakes it means you’ve improved but your hand hasn’t caught up yet. I think this is the case with driving as well. I think I’m still improving dramatically right now and my hands… and mostly throttle control haven’t caught up yet.
Im truly fortunate to be invited to such a special event. Im even more fortunate to have wonderful friends who have given me the opportunity to run their incredible cars here. It’s not something that I take lightly.
UMI's King of the Mountain Presented by Air Flow Research is an event that has a level of specialness that I can’t quite describe. I think we had 6 national champions in our class, a few of which had multiple jackets, and probably another 6 that’s should have championships by now but luck wasn’t on their side. That’s some super stout competition.
Also the atmosphere of UMI Motorsports Park is unlike I’ve ever experienced in my years of racing. So incredibly welcoming, and they truly take care of you. Ryan Kirkwood, Ashley Miles and Ramey Womer go out of their way to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. Name another venue that does that, I’ll wait.
Im super proud of my friends who competed this weekend. I think we all honestly killed it. Let’s do it again next year.
6.0 I’m coming for the shoot out course.
I drove way better this year than last year. I was only 1.3 out of the shoot out. Last year I was almost 4 seconds out. While I’m really happy with my progress I can’t say I’m not disappointed with how I drove today. I truly think I could have done better. There are several places I could have carried more speed. Several places I could have been more confident.
