Shit that was a wild ride.
So a couple weeks ago I messaged Zach Moore kind of as a joke to see if I could run the LeGrand at Nationals. Once it became obvious my car wasn’t going to make it I started getting kinda sad and not excited for nationals.
However, Zach said I could take the car. Overwhelmed with how I could make it happen I started planning. It ended up not being a big deal at all to go pick up the trailer and take the car to nationals.
I ran the car in the ProSolo workers class on Sunday morning and… quickly learned I had zero idea how to properly launch with a hand clutch 3 out of 4 runs it took me 6 seconds to get from green to 60ft
After some time on the practice course I figured that out, well, kinda.
I drove really well, way better than the results reflect if I’m being honest. Which, I don’t think I’ve ever put two good days together at Nats (and with the cones on run 2 I didn’t know existed I still haven’t) however, the raw time delta to first is getting smaller every year. My lines were good and I felt really good about my car placement.
While I didn’t come home with hardware this year I come home with the experience and memories of finally running BM on concrete and on a real course and I have to say 10000% worth it.
Oh and uhhhh in the game of “dirt or bruise” it’s definitely bruise in BM
Kinda funny Justin Peachey and I ended up codriving purely by chance.
2024 SCCA Solo Nationals - West - 93 BM - 47.8
2024 SCCA Solo Nationals - East - 93 BM - 61.5
The car is for sale, it’s a lot of car for the money and I highly recommend to anyone who is a serial fun haver.
Thanks Chris Kunkel for taking me under your wing this week and all the help! Also, shout out to Brad Smith for helping me get my head on straight driving wise!
Mod welcomed us in with open arms and it was awesome. They didn’t even make fun of the fact I was cosplaying as a mod driver.
Thanks Dan Cyr for reminding me that sometimes you have to drive these things harder to make it better, and thanks to Jon Clements for the quick help with diagnosing the starter issue.
I’m sure I’m missing several wonderful humans that helped me this week.
Catch you all next year.
